About VIVOVA — Bringing Chinese Craft to the World

Every VIVOVA piece carries the warmth of centuries-old Chinese craftsmanship. We connect master artisans with global audiences who value authenticity, heritage, and handcrafted quality.

Our Story

VIVOVA began with four words: Chinese craftsmanship. We travel the places where these traditions still live — the kilns of Jianyang in Fujian, the porcelain studios of Jingdezhen, the woodcraft workshops of Jiangnan, the olive-pit carving tables of Guangdong. Our founder grew up surrounded by artisans who could transform raw materials into objects of beauty with nothing but their hands, simple tools, and generations of inherited knowledge.

Our journey began with a simple mission: to make traditional Chinese craftsmanship accessible to global modern life through contemporary aesthetics. We work directly with master artisans who have spent decades perfecting their craft — from Jianzhan ceramic artists who fire tea bowls at 1300°C to olive pit carvers whose works can only be fully appreciated under magnifying glass.

We believe that great handcraft is not just an object, but a carrier of culture, history, and human warmth. In a world of mass production, we choose the slow path — one piece at a time, one artisan at a time, one story at a time.

Our Craft Categories

VIVOVA offers four distinct categories of handcrafted Chinese cultural products, each representing a unique tradition of artisanal excellence:

Jianzhan Tea Ware

Song Dynasty style black-glazed porcelain fired at 1300°C. Each piece displays unique crystalline patterns — golden hare's fur, oil spots, and Yohen Tenmoku — formed naturally during firing.

Hand-Painted Ceramics

Jingdezhen white porcelain decorated with underglaze hand-painting. Lotus, plum blossom, peony, and landscape motifs applied stroke by stroke by master painters.

Woodwork & Carving

Natural sandalwood crafted into bracelets, lotus carvings, incense holders, and Zen ornaments. Each piece carries the warm scent and grounding energy of natural wood.

Olive Pit Carving

The art of microscopic sculpture — 18 Arhats, Buddha figures, and miniature landscapes carved onto tiny olive pits. A centuries-old craft requiring extraordinary precision and patience.

Our Artisans

We partner with 20+ master artisans across China, each specializing in a different traditional craft. These are not factory workers — they are artists who have dedicated their lives to perfecting a single discipline. Some learned their craft from family members going back generations. Others studied under renowned masters for decades before creating their own works.

Every piece in our collection is 100% handcrafted — no mass production, no machine replication. When you buy from VIVOVA, you receive a unique piece of Chinese cultural heritage that can never be exactly duplicated.

Our Promise

East Meets West

While our roots are firmly in Chinese tradition, we believe that great craft transcends borders. Each season, we release 1-2 limited edition pieces that blend Chinese techniques with Western aesthetics — a Jianzhan-glazed coffee cup, a hand-painted ceramic with contemporary patterns, or a wood carving with minimalist Scandinavian influence.

These fusion pieces represent our vision: traditional Chinese craftsmanship finding new life and new audiences in the modern world.

Sustainability & Ethics

We believe that preserving traditional craft also means preserving the planet and the people who practice it. Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every decision we make.

🌿

Handmade, Not Mass-Produced

Every piece is crafted by hand, eliminating factory emissions and industrial waste. Artisan production uses only the materials needed — no overproduction, no excess inventory.

Recyclable Packaging

Our packaging is minimal and recyclable. Gift boxes are designed to be kept and reused as storage, not thrown away. We use soy-based inks for printed materials.

📦

Material Transparency

Every product page lists materials, craft origin, and care instructions. Our wood products use legally sourced sandalwood and reclaimed materials wherever possible.

Fair Artisan Wages

A fair portion of every purchase goes directly to the artisan who created your piece. We ensure sustainable livelihoods for traditional craftspeople and their families.

Sea Freight Preferred

We ship by sea whenever feasible to reduce our carbon footprint. Air shipping is reserved for time-sensitive custom orders only.

Built to Last

Our products are designed to be heirlooms, not disposable. A hand-painted cup or nut carving bracelet can last generations — the most sustainable product is one you never need to replace.
